I stood silently watching her begging for her life. The heart was contorting within. Because I couldn't do anything but watch her die. What had been happening to her it was impossible for anyone to watch her give her last breath just like that. In my life, I haven't seen anyone suffering so rigorous punishment. She was gheraoed by hundreds of people But No one did dare to save her from the cruel animal who was beating and smashing her like she wasn't a living being but just a stray dog. I wonder what was her mistake?. What could possibly she have done to receive such a punishment. Neither I could see her begging for her life nor I could go up to her and beat the shit out of 15 people and make them stop their inciteful act. After some time crowd got departed. And the lady who had been beaten up to her death. Opened her eyes, her clothes were shredded into pieces. She had left one piece on her body. she covered her mutilated body with one hand and she holds a piece of clothing with others. She stood slowly with remaining strength in her body. Started walking towards a shack, could be seen from a distant place. I followed her there to see who else stays with her. I followed her till the boundaries of the shack, she went inside a straightway.
“Mother I am hungry” I heard someone from inside saying. By voice, I could recognise she was not more than 8 years of age
“Beta today I couldn't get anything for you,” she said, sobbing
“Mother do we have to stay like that forever in our life?” the little one asked her mother, her mother was quite after hearing this because she doesn’t have an answer for what her daughter had been asking her since a long time.
“Everything is gods grace my little one” she pulled her daughter towards her. And hugged tightly
“Why god is doing this with us mother?” the child said this. Innocently trying to ask her mother, why she was suffering like insects
“God has his own plans for everyone my little one, whatever he is decided for us. There is a reason behind it” both were silent for a moment
She understood her mothers impotency to bring food today. She was hungry. One side her mother and the other side her stomach. Which was shouting and telling her that she needs food? But the fresh wounds on her mother’s face and her leg were captivating never-ending trepidation in her heart
“Mother did they bit you,” she asked her mother
“No beta I just slipped off and got injured,” her mother said.
How naively she hid everything from her own child.
After hearing this, I could not control my eyes and tears, everywhere people were disturbed because of the corona. But she and her mother were completely shattered and their mind and souls were injured by their own kind (human being).
I couldn't see their miseries and decided to bring them some food, I went straight away to my home, grabbed some clothes, some food and walked towards their shack. My home wasn't far away. I reached nearby their shack, still, the conversation was going on. I howled from outside to make then realise that someone is waiting outside.
“Who has come now?” her mother opened shacks wooden door. Which wasn't strong enough.
“Kaki, I am Manoj: Brought some food and clothes for you and your little one” she came out dashingly when I spoke about food and clothes. She knew her daughter was hungry for two days.
“God may give you everything you wish for” when she came out, she saw food in one hand and the clothes on others. She overwhelmed her self.
“Take this Kaki,” I said
“All of it?” she asked
After some time her daughter came out, when she saw food, she came hurriedly towards me, and said “dada is it for me?” the way she said those beautiful words, it made my heartwater wobbled inside. It made me so emotional
“yes, it’s for you little one”
“My mom calls me by that name”
“And it’s so sweet by the way” I sai bending myself towards her
“We don't know how to thanks to you” her mother came close and kept her palms on me.
“Its nothing Kaki, it is my honour to serve you. If you need anything just there is my home. Don't go anywhere just come there” I said, showing my home’s direction with my hands “kaki why that man was hitting you like an animal”
“Beta we are hungry for two days, I desperately needed work to earn some money. And buy some food for my little one. I asked that man he could give me some money for work”
“Nothing wrong in that Kaki, then?”
“At first he said yes. And then he said no when his wife came out”
“Why he did that to you. It was nothing, he doesn’t have the right to treat someone like you, that way” I said, furious
“God is watching everyone, he will make everything right for everyone”
When she said god will act on it. I was even more furious than before, I contemplate inside how he is not able to see such cruelty in his made world. I looked up in the sky. Hoping God will listen to what I said
“He came to us in your form” “I should thank him,” she said and looked up
I looked at her eyes. She was so calm and her breathing quite superslow.
“Anyway Kaki if you need anything, please come to me,” I said my final words before taking her leave. Looked at little one. The strange spark I could sense in her eyes as she said from her heart thanking me for such generosity.
“Bye little one, will meet soon” and I walked away from her.
There was satisfaction inside me. I could do something for them at last. I felt strength in me, kind of power inside me. And that encouraged me to help more and do things for them who need your help. Let it be corona. Maintain your generosity to keep on helping people. If you do good to others, good will come to you eventually
